Countryside breaks

Rolling hills, patchwork fields, romantic crags, wild moorland and deep woods… the landscape of Shropshire seems timeless. So, too, do many of its towns and villages. Shropshire is rich in history. Offa’s Dyke and Marches castles stride the border between England and Wales. Picturesque, black-and-white buildings abound – Shrewsbury alone has 600 listed buildings. The Industrial Revolution was born in Shropshire, with the famous Ironbridge now a World Heritage Site and a fascinating place to visit.

Shropshire really is a gem of a county. So unspoilt, yet so easy to get to, it is readily accessible from the M6 and the M54. A peaceful haven in the heart of England, Shropshire has so much to offer (for a list of attractions please click here).

Hawkstone Park is the perfect base for exploring this beautiful county. Its 66-bedroom hotel has been providing a warm, Shropshire welcome since the 18th century. In those days it was an inn, providing accommodation for what is still Shropshire’s main attraction – Hawkstone Park’s extraordinary Park & Follies, an 18th century `garden`.
